What We Recycle

Accepted Small Items

We help Brisbane residents use Rotate to separate small recyclable items that do not always have an obvious place in household bins. The recycling programme accepts a defined range of materials, from bottle caps and bread tags to blister packs, reading glasses and X-ray film.

Start with the list below, then use Where to match the item with a recycling wall or specialist destination. Large appliances and other bulky e-waste need a different recycling route.

What Needs a Different Recycling Route

Not every small item belongs in a Rotate wall. Polystyrene can go to the Willawong council recycling depot, while large e-waste such as fridges, televisions and appliances should go directly to an e-waste recycler. Clothes, shoes, belts and handbags are also outside the programme's recycling-wall list.

Plastic needs a little extra care because only certain types are accepted. Check the recycling code and use a council or specialist service when the material falls outside the listed categories.

Recycling partners and host venues may change. If an item does not clearly match the accepted list, call 0458 811 341 before leaving it at a collection point.
